Sgraffito Plate & Cup Workshop
Sunday, November 22nd | 11:00 AM – 1:30 PM
Join us at the studio for a relaxed Sunday morning of working with clay and playing with color. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll be learning sgraffito, a beautiful, traditional technique where you carve designs through a top layer of glaze to reveal a bright pop of color underneath.
You’ll get to make two unique pieces: a dinner-size plate and a nice cup. We’ll guide you through the whole process using a vibrant palette of green, yellow, and blue.
Here is how we'll do it:
The Base: You’ll start by painting a solid layer of your chosen color onto your plate and cup.
The Sketch: Once that dries, you will sketch your design directly onto the surface.
The Carving: then the fun part begins, using specialized tools to scratch your design away, revealing the bright base color underneath and creating beautiful, high contrast patterns.
Whether you’ve never touched clay before or you're looking to try a new technique, our space is all about bringing creativity and community. Grab a seat at our big table, enjoy some light snacks and drinks and make something entirely your own.
The Details:
You will create one dinner-size plate and one cup.
Light snacks and beverages are included.
We will fire your pieces in the kiln, and they’ll be ready to pick up in 2–3 weeks.
Our Policy
Because space at our table is limited, all spots are non-refundable. If something comes up and you can’t make it, you are more than welcome to give your spot to a friend or family member instead.
